Brooks College Prep scored 34 points this year to tie for fourth overall in the team standings in the 2A Girls State Meet. 30 Points were scored by our 2A Girls Athlete of the Year Imani Carothers. The sophomore had a sensational year ending with winning state championships in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and the 100 Meter Hurdles. She also qualified for the state meet in the 100 Meter Dash were she missed qualifying for the finals by two spots. She also set the 2A IHSA State Meet Record in the Triple Jump.

Maryjeanne Gilbert (Notre Dame HS, Peoria) was the only other athlete that was considered in this category. The senior, who will be attending the University of Notre Dame this fall, completed the “Distance Triple Crown” this past season winning the state 2A title in cross country as well as winning the 3200 and finally the 1600 Meter Run. She concluded her high school athletic career with seven IHSA State championships.

We are proud to congratulate Imani Carothers of Brooks College Prep of Chicago as the 2016 DyeStat Illinois 2A Girls Athlete of the Year.
