Who else but Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West in this category? Hart was one of the main reasons why Glenbard West left Charleston this May as the 3A Girls State champions. The freshman helped the 3200 Meter Relay team finish fourth in the state finals. She came right back to win both the 3200 and 1600 Meter Run. She went undefeated in any of the three distance events this year having the fastest time in the state in the 1600 Meter Run (4:44.92) and the 3200 Meter Run (10:11.51) that she ran in March at the Illinois Top Times Championships. Hart was the fastest freshman nationally in the 1600 Meter Run, third fastest freshman nationally in the 1 Mile Run, and second fastest freshman nationally in the 3200 Meter Run. It will be fun to watch her race in the next three years to see what she can accomplish. Congratulations to Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn as the 2017 ILXCTF.com 3A Girls Distance Events Athlete of the Year. More news |
