Naperville North Athletic Director Robert Quinn announced on Monday that the Naperville Twilight Invitational will take place for this 2020 season. The meet has traditionally been held on a Wednesday evening in October. That has changed.

The meet will now be held over two days starting on Friday, October 9th and ending the next day.

Schools that will be competing at this meet will be limited to all DuPage Valley Conference schools (DeKalb, Metea Valley, Naperville Central, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie Valley), DuKane Conference schools, and Benet Academy. DuPage Valley Conference Schools will be allowed to compete in all levels of the meet.

DuKane Conference Schools (Batavia, Glenbard North, Geneva, Lake Park, St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Wheaton North, and Wheaton-Warrenville South) along with Benet Academy will only compete in the Varsity Races.

Junior Varsity races will begin at 4:30 PM on Friday. Six varsity races (three for each gender) will begin at 6:00 PM. Varsity races will be limited to five teams each with eight runners per team.

“We will decide the varsity races based on a collective vote of the coaches about ten days in advance of the event,” said Naperville North Girls Coach Dan Iverson.

The Saturday races will begin at 8:00 AM. Races on that day will be limited to 42 runners for each race.

There will be NO spectators allowed for this meet. “We have hosted cross country events on our campus course this year and feel strongly that we can manage this number of teams safely,” Quinn said. “Regardless, based on the number of races and competitors, we are NOT going to allow spectators beyond school administration.  We are working with the Waubonsie Valley TV station to provide a quality real-time simulcast for fans.”
