Using Athletic.Net to upload your IHSA Track & Field Results - 2021 Season

2020 was supposed to be the first Track and Field Season that the IHSA would enter into the partnership with Athletic.Net to handle the association’s registration for sectional and state meets.

The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020 season. So here we are again to start a track season that should see us conclude in June for the IHSA State Track & Field Championships.

There are several things that the IHSA would like the coaches know for the upcoming season with the use of uploading results into Athletic.Net.

The most important is that every performance that you want to use for a seed time in the state qualifying meets MUST be uploaded into Athletic.Net. For example, your athlete runs 9:10 for the 3200 Meter Run and you want to use that performance as a sectional seed time. The problem is that the result was never published. ONLY the best performance of that athlete that is found in Athletic.Net can be used as a seed time.

An explanation from the IHSA in their terms and conditions explains the use of Athletic.Net for the IHSA for this season.

IHSA Terms And Conditions (see sections1.32 to 1.35 in IHSA Video).

There are things that should be remembered this season regarding reporting Illinois track and field results. The first is that track & field results need to be uploaded into Athletic.Net by the host school. The host school of a meet is required to set up the meet page and then to upload results. The results will be verified by Athletic.Net and declared official.

Hand timed performances can be used for seeding purposes in the state series. Athletic.Net will add .24 seconds to sprint performances automatically. THE HOST SCHOOL SHOULD NOT be reporting the results by adding .24 seconds. The system will handle that.

For example, an athlete runs 11.0 seconds for the 100 Meter Dash and the performance is hand timed. The result should be turned in as 11.0, not 11.24 seconds. Let the system automatically do that. Performances on your athlete’s profile and in your records as “11.24c”.

“Through our former List of Participant process, we allowed hand times to be entered for seeding.  We provided a formula for coaches to convert their hand times.  Therefore, we will still allow converted hand times to be used for sectional entries and seeding.  We will just follow the Athletic.net process for this,” said IHSA Assistant Director Kraig Garber. “Meet hosts are responsible for importing official results after meets have concluded.  Even though we will take converted hand times for seeding purposes, I want to make sure that the times are official times.”

It is acknowledged that not all meets will use FAT timing this spring. That does not exclude a meet host from posting the results into Athletic.Net. As Garber said, it is the host school’s responsibility to post results.

Athletic.Net has published helpful videos to help you use their system. They can be found HERE on their You Tube Channel.

Here is a video example of how to upload a track & field meet on Athletic.Net found on their You Tube Channel.

There are many formats that can be used. Hytek Html, a delimited CSV file with your results. This is a walk-through article that will help all of you through this process

Some things to remember:

Coaches should have their athlete’s rosters updated at the beginning of the 2021 season. When you start to upload your results, it will be easier to upload your results. Adding Athletes to your school’s roster

If a result page that only has one school’s results in a meet is determined to be UNOFFICIAL. Those performances cannot be used for seeding purposes.

Please make sure your results are uploaded after the meet. DO NOT wait until right before sectional performances are due. DO NOT upload an April meet at the beginning of June.

Please report your hand timed performances in tenths only. Someone running 4:59.95 hand timed for the 1600 Meter Run should be reported as 5:00. Hand sprint performances will be automatically converted if you mark the results in the timing portion as HAND TIMED.

Field events performances need to be turned with metric format. Please use performance such as “5.88m, not 5.88. Even if the field event performances are reported in English imperial marks, the performances will be displayed in the Illinois TFX Leaderboards as a metric performance.

ALL performances on the DyeStat TFX Leaderboard for Illinois will be displayed with FAT performances. The leaderboard can also show performances that include Hand Timed performances. To see these performances, just hit the ALL button at the top of that page.

The most important thing to remember is that there is a great Athletic.Net staff that are here to help you through this transition.

Please reach out to Athletic.Net or to me ([email protected]) and we will be more than happy to assist you.
