Minooka repeats as top Boys Relay Program

Minooka had all four relays ranked into the top 10 among all school in 2022. The Indians scored 182 points to repeat as Boys Champion as well as easily outdistancing the rest of the Illinois schools during the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Season. It is the third time that Minooka has won in this competition also winning the inaugural competition in 2013.

 

Warren Township had a banner year with their relays as they scored 162 points to finish second. Prospect (156 points), Downers Grove North (154 points), and 3A State team champion Batavia (149.5 points) rounded out the top five teams.

 

Minooka becomes the first school in the nine years in this competition has been held to rank teams in the top 10, win the title as the top relay program, but not score points in any of the four relays at the IHSA State Track & Field Championships.

 

Two Class 2A schools and one Class 1A school were among the top schools in the top 20. Kankakee (7th place) and East St. Louis-Senior (12th place) were the two 2A schools. Winnebago finished 16th as the only 1A school in the top 20.

 

The DuPage Valley Conference led all conferences with three teams in the top 20.

 

The ILXCTF.com (formally the DyeStat Illinois) Relay Rankings are based off the DyeStat TFX Leaderboards on Athletic.net (as of May 28, 2022) for the four relays that are contested at the IHSA State Track & Field Meet. In the All Class, 3A, 2A, and 1A categories, the top 50 quartets are ranked with 50 points given to the fastest school down to 1 point for the 50th fastest.

2022 Class 3A Boys

 

Minooka stayed on top in Class 3A, Downers Grove North made a big jump from fourth overall to second in Class 3A. The remaining top five overall teams remained the same with Warren Township, Prospect, and Batavia finishing in the top five.

 

WSC-Silver led all Class 3A conferences placing four teams in the top 20. Southwest Prairie Conference placed two teams in the top six with Minooka and Plainfield North (6th place).

2022 Class 2A Boys

 

Sycamore did not have any relays among the top five Class 2A teams during the 2022 season. The Spartans did have good depth with all four relays among the top 10 performances and enough to be named the top Class 2A Boys relay program with 175 points.

 

Fellow Interstate Eight Conference team Kaneland scored 163 points to finish second. East St. Louis-Senior (162 points) and Bartonville Limestone (155 points) finished third and fourth. Kankakee and Burlington Central tied for fifth (149 points).

 

Sycamore becomes the first team from their conference in the nine years of this competition to win in Class 2A and the second school located north of I-80 to win.

2022 Class 1A Boys

 

Decatur St. Teresa had all four relay performances in the top seven to be named the top Class 1A program scoring 182 points. The Bulldogs become the first team from the Central Illinois Conference to win. Pleasant Plains was a close second place scoring 178 points.

 

St. Joseph-Ogden scored 161 points to finish third. Big Northern Conference schools Rockford Christian (155 points) and Winnebago (153 points) finished fourth and fifth.
