East St. Louis-Senior on top of the 2019 Girls rankings
By Michael Newman
East St. Louis-Senior won three of four relays to help them win the IHSA 2A Girls State Championships last month. That formula helped the Flyerettes finish on top of the 2019 Girls Relay team rankings. Eastside had three relays ranked in the top four in the Illinois leaderboard to help them finish on top with 170 points. Two other schools finished within eight points of the 2A champions. Evanston Township scored 164 points to finish second just ahead of third-place Belleville East (162 points). 3A Girls State Champion Homewood-Flossmoor won all three relays at state and had the fastest times in the sprint relay events. They did not score in the 3200 Meter Relay and scored 150 points to finish fourth. Lincoln-Way East and Lyons Township both scored 140 points to tie for fifth. East St. Louis-Senior becomes the third straight 2A Girls school to win the ILXCTF overall title. Dunlap had won the last two years (2017-2018). There was no overwhelming conference in this year’s rankings. The Southwest Conference, the Southwest Suburban Conference, the Chicago Public League, and the West Suburban Conference-Silver Division all had two schools finish in the top 10 in the rankings. The Mid Suburban League had three schools finish among the top 20 teams. There were three non-Class 3A schools in this rankings. East St. Louis-Senior and Carbondale represent Class 2A. 1A Girls State Champion DuQuoin was in the top 20 finishing 14th overall. The ILXCTF.com (formally the DyeStat Illinois) Relay Rankings are based off the DyeStat TFX Leaderboards on Athletic.net (as of June 1, 2019) for the four relays that are contested at the IHSA State Track & Field Meet. In the All Class, 3A, 2A, and 1A categories, the top 50 quartets are ranked with 50 points given to the fastest school down to 1 point for the 50th fastest. 2019 Girls Overall
