3A GIRLS

There was plenty of talented athletes to choose from in this category. Riley Ammenhauser, a sophomore from Neuqua Valley, won the Class 3A Triple Jump for the second year in a row. Grace Daun, a senior from Wauconda, won the Class 3A High Jump defending her title. Daun completes her high school career medaling in this event in the state meet all four years.

The athlete that was considered the most was Jasmine Mitchell of Thornwood. Mitchell’s last “non-victory” during the regular season in Illinois in the Shot Put came in March of 2018 when she finished second at Bloomington. She has been undefeated since winning the state title in the event her junior sand senior seasons. Mitchell was close to perfect in the Discus also winning the Class 3A state title the past two years.

It was hard not to choose Mitchell for this honor.

Congratulations to Jasmine Mitchell of Thornwood High School as the as the 2019 ILXCTF.com 3A Girls Field Event Athlete of the Year.

2A GIRLS

Serena Bolden of Springfield Southeast was the queen of the 2A horizontal jumps during the season heading into the state meet. Bolden was the only athlete over 40-feet winning by almost two feet in the Triple Jump. It was extremely closer in the Long Jump as Bolden jumped 19-0.75 winning by just a half an inch ahead of Diamonasia Taylor of Urbana.

The Urbana junior won her third straight state championship in the High Jump clearing a new 2A state meet record of 5-11 in the process. Although Bolden had two state championships in the disciplines, how close Taylor being that close to Bolden along with setting a meet record gave her the edge.

Congratulations to Diamonasia Taylor of Urbana High School as the 2019 ILXCTF.com 2A Girls Field Event Athlete of the Year.

1A GIRLS

Chloe Lindeman of Fulton had a great season winning the national championship in the Shot Put at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. Lindeman also defended her Class 1A State championship in the event this past May.

Windsor Roberts of Tri-Valley emerged at the end of the year as the top Girls athlete regardless of classification in the Pole Vault. Roberts cleared 12-6 to win her second straight Class 1A State Title in Charleston last May. She went to Greensboro, North Carolina where she achieved even more success at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Roberts entered the meet with a personal best of 13-0. That grew in the championship competition when she cleared a new Illinois All-Time High School best of 13-5. That performance also gave her second-place overall earning her All-American honors.

Congratulations to Windsor Roberts of Downs Tri-Valley High School as the 2019 ILXCTF.com 1A Girls Field Event Athlete of the Year.
