Notes – Loudoun Valley VA ran their full lineup last Saturday easily winning the Loudoun County Championships with a perfect score of 15. It was not their fastest race of the year, but it did include their #1 runner Sam Affolder. The Vikings should stay at the top spot at least until they race at the Great American XC Festival in North Carolina on October 6. If not Loudoun Valley, then Great Oak CA should be the top team in the nation. The Wolfpack ran their top runners at the Bob Firman Invitational last Saturday in Idaho running only a 19 second split on their top five led by the eighth-place finish from Gabriel Abbes. Great Oak also showed their depth by finishing second at the Dana Hills Invitational led by Ryan Shields. Expect Shields to bee in the top five for Great Oak soon. This team is deep with talent. Skyridge UT was the biggest mover in the list from #33 to #8 after a strong second-place finish at Firman. Davis UT and Idaho Falls ID finished third and fourth in that meet and move into the top 35. New York schools Fayetteville-Manlius and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake hold down the third and fourth positions on the list. Christian Brothers NJ moved to the fifth spot on the list by winning the Varsity II race at the Bowdoin XC Classic led by Tim McInerney, Shaw Powell, and Luke Reid taking the first three places. The team had a 55 second split on their top five, but their strength in the front will keep fans watching this team. LaSalle Academy RI won the Varsity I race at this meet placing five runners in the top ten with only a 31 second split on the scorers. They move up nine spots up to #12. Hersey IL is the highest entering team into the top 35 this week at #14 after winning the Palatine Invitational in the suburban Chicagoland area. Josh Methner showed that he is one of the top 25 elite individuals national breaking the course record held by former York runner Jack Driggs. The pack for the Huskies behind Methner was only separated by 30 seconds on their second through fifth runners. Dana Hills CA opened their season with a win in their own invitational and moving into the top 35 at #17. Six California schools are currently in the top 35 this week making it one of the toughest NXR regionals nationally. More news |
