3A GIRLS

Congratulations to Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn as the 2019 ILXCTF.com 3A Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. This is the second year in a row that Hart has been selected in this category.

Hart had a banner track season once again in Illinois going undefeated against Illinois runners. She accomplished the distance triple at the IHSA 3A Girls State Track & Field Championships by winning the 3200 Meter Run, 800 Meter Run, and 1600 Meter Run. She accomplished that after winning her heats on Friday in the 800 Meter Run and 1600 Meter Run. She becomes the second runner to accomplish this and first in the 3A classification to achieve this (5 races in 24 hours). Hart has now won 10 state championships in Cross Country and Track & Field.

Hart also earned All-American honors by finishing second in the 2 Mile Run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals. Hart also ran an Illinois All-Time best for 1600-meters (4:38.00) and the 1 Mile Run (4:39.57) at Magis Miles on May 31.

Jasmine Mitchell of Thornwood High School was also considered in this category.
