Congratulations to Brandon Battle of Edwardsville as the 2021 ILXCTF.com Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

Battle started his season by running an Illinois All-Time Indoor Best of 47.88 at a meet in Chicago. His outdoor season was spectacular going undefeated in three sprint events. He became the second athlete to win all three sprint events at the state meet in the 3A State Finals on June 19. His 46.48 time in the 400 Meter Dash is the second fastest performance at that distance.

Battle will attend the University of Arkansas this fall.

Drew Rogers of Herscher was selected as the Class 2A Boys Athlete of the Year. Jadon Robertson of Cowden Herrick was the selection as the Class 1A Boys Athlete of the Year.

Kalil Johnson of Evanston Township and CJ Shoaf of Mahomet-Seymour were also considered in this category.
