2023 ILXCTF.com Illinois HS Relay Rankings - Girls Schools

Prospect ends memorable season as top Girls Relay program in Illinois

By Michael Newman

The strength of their quartets in the relay events was one of the reasons why Prospect High School finished second at the IHSA 3A Girls State Track & Field Championships in May. That strength, led by Charlotte Deines, Lily Ginsberg, and Cameron Kalaway, led the Knights to be named the top Illinois Girls Relay program in the state for the 2023 season.

Three of Prospect’s relay quartets were ranked in the top three overall in the state including having the fastest time in the 4x800m Relay. Prospect scored 171 rankings points to place on top of the ILXCTF.com Relay Rankings. They become the first team from the Mid Suburban League to be placed on top and the seventh school in this eleven year program (2020 was not held due to COVID-19) to be named as the Relay Champion.

Normal Community, led by the anchor legs of their star runner Ali Ince in the 4x400m Relay and 4x800m Relay, finished second with 155 points. It is their highest finish ever in this rankings program.

2A State Champion Kankakee scored 139 points to finish third for the second year in a row. Four schools overall from Class 2A with Normal University (13thT), Peoria Richwoods (15th), and East St. Louis-Senior (20th) finished among the top 20 schools.

Kenwood Academy dropped from third in 2022 to fourth this season with 135 points. WSC-Silver Schools Downers Grove North and Hinsdale Central tied for fifth with 133 points.

The Southwestern Conference in the Metro St. Louis area had the most schools in the top 20 overall with four schools led by Belleville East placing tenth. O’Fallon, Edwardsville, and East St. Louis-Senior were the other conference schools.

The ILXCTF.com (formally the DyeStat Illinois) Relay Rankings are based off the DyeStat TFX Leaderboards on Athletic.net (as of May 27, 2023) for the four relays that are contested at the IHSA State Track & Field Meet. In the All Class, 3A, 2A, and 1A categories, the top 50 quartets are ranked with 50 points given to the fastest school down to 1 point for the 50th fastest.
